The 4th Judicial District Court at 620 W Fetterman St., Buffalo, WY 82834. The District Court shares the Honorable William Edelman with Sheridan County. The District Court handles felony criminal cases after the matter is bound over by a preliminary hearing. An arraignment will be held for the plea of guilty or not guilty to the charge or charges. If a plea of not guilty is made, the court will set the matter for a motion hearing and/or a trial. The judges may also revisit bond issues if a motion is made by the prosecutor or the criminal defense attorney.
Johnson County Circuit Court
The Johnson County Circuit Court shares its courthouse with the 4th Judicial District Court. The Johnson County Circuit Court is presided over by The Honorable Shelley A Cundiff has been the judge for the 4th Judicial District Circuit Court since November 2012. Magistrate Paul Jarvis also presides over the circuit court until at least January 2017. Like the other 23 circuit courts in Wyoming (one for each county), this court handles criminal matters dealing with family violence, stalking, assault and battery, and DUI or DWUI. This is the court that hears all misdemeanor cases. If you have been charged with a felony, your initial bond hearing and preliminary hearing are also in the Circuit Court.
Buffalo City Municipal Court
The Buffalo City Municipal Court, can be found at 46 N Main St, Buffalo, WY, 82834. It is presided over by Municipal Court Judge Mary M. Hupy. Magistrate Paul Jarvis serves as an Alternate Municipal Judge as well. This court handles all ordinance violations for the incorporated city of Buffalo, Wyoming. Some cases within the municipal court system could include penalties of up to 6 months in jail and/or $750 dollars.
